Is facade greening a fire hazard? The City of Vienna has been investigating the fire behavior of facade greening since 2015. In the meantime, about 20 large-scale fire tests have been carried out on different types of facade greening.
Measures such as fire barriers or spacing regulations have been developed and now enable the construction of facade greenings that are as simple as possible in terms of design, without disregarding fire protection specifications on the facade. What does this mean in concrete terms? What is possible? Should this also apply in general, i.e. elsewhere as well?
