An important topic! The City of Vienna recently introduced new subsidy regulations for the greening and unsealing of buildings – they are exemplary and will certainly lead to a surge in greening, especially in private buildings. And hopefully also provide an impetus for promotion in other municipalities.
One of the obstacles is the issue of fire protection. What needs to be considered? What could be dangerous? Vienna’s fire protection authority has helped to find reliable answers to these questions with extensive empirical tests, also in co-operation with the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences. This has led to new guidelines that were adopted in 2023. Dr Dieter Werner presented these in a detailed article and discussed questions in the subsequent discussion.
