Webinar Tuesday, December 17, 2024, 17.00 hrs
Prof. DI Dr. Rosemarie Stangl, University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences Vienna, Institute of Engineering Biology and Landscaping
We now know how important the greening of cities is for the microclimate; tree planting, green roofs and green façades are our measures against heat stress and loss of biodiversity.
But what about the large areas of glass façades, which make up a significant proportion of surfaces and which continue to mushroom? A lost cause for greening?
An interesting project is underway at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna, to investigate this question: possibilities are emerging. This concerns
– Shading and regulating the microclimate indoors – and outdoors through vertical green structures
– Modular climbing aids and transferable GLAS green systems
– Growth and development maintenance and recommendations.
